Course Availability:  Tuesday and Thursday mornings are generally reserved until noon.  The last Sunday of each month is reserved after 1:30 PM for "member's scramble."  Exceptions exist; do call for schedule changes.

                                                         June 11, 2009                                

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Doug Miller at 1:00 p.m.  Those in attendance were Bill Murphy, Marilyn Greene, Donna Stevens and Nettie Blair.  Bill Murphy made a motion to except the minutes from last board meeting Donna Stevens seconded it and the motion carried.

Marilyn Greene gave a report on the board dinner for June the 16th.  There have been 53 tickets purchase as of this date.  She will purchase supplies on Saturday. 

Doug Miller gave a report on the cart sheds and the paving in front of the sheds.  The total cost for repairs and paving was $10,500 and lots of free labor.  Thanks to all who worked on this project.  GREAT JOB GUYS.

Thanks to Art Greene, Bruce Lomax and anyone else who helped on the new cart maintenance building for Marc Ramin.  He can store his deionizer year around and maintain the carts much better.

Doug Miller and Brian Pickens agreed that the retainer wall on the # 6 fairway needs to be reinforced.  Doug Miller will purchase 100 to 150 bags of 40# sackcrete and rebar to help stabilize the wall; cost will be between $300 to $500.  Donna Stevens made a motion to purchase the supplies for this project; Bill Murphy seconded it and the motion carried. 

Marc Ramin gave the board a report on the pro shop for April & May:

Marc Ramin requested to have James Longoria to fill in for some of the summer help to offset the extra hour for the pro shop; he has worked here before.  Nettie Blair made a motion to hire James Longoria to fill in the office; Donna Stevens seconded it and the motion carried.

The board made a motion to change the contract for members to read: 

    "Prices are subject to change without notice."  Sharon will mail out a copy to all members with their bill.

Brain Pickens will fertilize the course on the 12th of June. 

Christine Nicknish has requested that a ladies group could have an exercise class on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.   Sue Burkhalter will be the trainer for this class.   The board agreed to allow the group to hold their class as long as this is not done for profit.  This class should be put on the calendar.                                                                          

Marc Ramin made a request to review the sick leave policy for the employees.  The board reviewed the policy agreed that it will remain as is:  Employees will be paid for up to six (6) days if they are at home sick or in the hospital.  Long term illness will be dealt with by the Board.   

Donna Stevens made a motion not to renew the Picayune Area-Wide phone book ad, Bill Murphy seconded the motion; it carried.

Donna Stevens made a motion to replace the cable for the golf carts.  Doug Miller said he that he would purchase the cable for the golf carts.  Bill Murphy seconded the motion it carried. 

Bill Murphy gave the treasury report for the club; the current balance as of May 31, 2009 was $81,484.50.

                                        BlueLake Golf Board Minutes

July 9, 2009

 

The meeting was called to order by President Bruce Lomax at 1 p.m.  The minutes had been sent to all members and were approved as sent.

Old Business:

The ball washer project was discussed.  The MGA has donated $250 for 11 washers to be repaired.  They will be taken apart, powder-coated, painted black and put back together.

The retention wall on # 6 will be done when weather gets cooler.

New Business:

The June board dinner was very successful.  The next one will be in September.  Menu is still being pending.

Sign replacement for No Parking is being done at the cost of $14 each (2 signs).

Doug suggested that we recognize Bob King for all of his dedication to the golf course.  He initiated the motion, it was seconded and the motion passed.  Doug will take care of having Bob King’s name engraved on the plaque.

Donna will take care of the cleaning of the carpet now that the ice cream social has passed.

The July C&C was successful as the ice cream social.  There were 41 people in attendance and it raised $71.

The board discussed annual pay reviews for all employees and tabled same for consideration at the August board meeting since further research of the matter is needed.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bill was not present but we had the June statement.  We discussed the cost of the cart storage as $7000 for doors, $5000 for repairs and $7500 for asphalt.  Total was $20,000 which we split with the POA.  Our cost-$10,000.

Marc’s neighbor owns La Quinta who suggested that the club provide pamphlets to his customers.  We discussed having a commercial glossy but decided on havingSharon print one on the computer using card stock with Marc providing the information.

Green Keeper’s report:

The board discussed possible alternatives to cart path improvements on #9.

Brian will need to have a work party to spread dirt on #7.

Mike Williams is very much appreciated for all of his dedication and work on our beautiful course.

The meeting was adjourned at 2 p.m.
