There was no chance we were going to get lost, hit fences, or become disoriented and roam about aimlessly.  Why?  Because our leader provided a back-of-the-envelope sketch with traffic cones and signs along the route marking ten separate zones to be scanned.  Once assigned, the territorial imperative kicked in and woe be to that interloper who trespassed.

It was the largest group in living memory ever assembled.  20 eager beavers came ready to deal with all the flying debris from contractor's uncovered trucks, and items becoming domestic detritus fun-loving weekenders fail to secure in the back of their vehicles, thus leaving a trail of plastic cups and cans as they head to and from the lake.  Hardly a cigarette butt or candy wrapper escaped the eyes of our crew; this group got it all.

Greg had with him his jam-proof, super good hand grip retriever, making him the envy of the assemblage.  In one hand he could be eating a hotdog while dexterously reaching with the other for the elusive, awkwardly positioned trash item, rarely uttering a grunt along the way.

Another plus for the day was the presence of the "Walking Ladies,"   Sally, Susan, Christine, and Nettie.  They picked up a lot of trash, showing they know how to deal with it.  Of the group, Jerry was the only husband attending, presumably the others were on missions of great urgency.

We do want to thank Red Stewart and Warner Tweed for planning and organizing this joint project of Deerhaven and Blue Lake.
