C & C Came off with a bang !!!

The affair was neat.  The theme was Flag Day and the tables were appropriately decorated with patriotic colors and emblems.

Host and hostesses were the Miller's and the Lavine's.  Although a count was not made, by estimates, 35 attended. The evening cleared $84.

Prizes were won by the Fosters and the Baylor's; both prizes were to local restaurants, Francesco's and Thai Spice.  Both restaurants have been "Blue Lake Member tested."  Anyone new to our area would think our group is food-obsessive.  (Sounds accurate, eh?)

Lessee.  The food was, as always, most delicious.  The hors d'oeuvres table had some most unusual and tasty treats.  Jalapeņos tastes were accommodated, cheese goodies, dips of all varieties, Mexican finger foods, boiled shrimp.  The side board had plenty of meats, even some salmon, chicken, veggies, too. and several salad types with dressing on the side.  Ice tea was supplied.  The dessert table was heavy with chocolate goodies, chocolate meringue pie, brownies, cakes, cookies, and to gild the lily, vanilla ice cream could be dipped into for those whose sweet threshold had not been reached.  Needless to say, the food was delicious and no one went away hungry.

Leah announced the Susan G. Komen tournament coming up the 22nd of this month was an opportunity for us all and urged everyone to participate in this ongoing, worthwhile cause.

Leah also is soliciting those with artistic talent to maybe considering providing some sketches for the Hill Country Recipe Book update project.  This update will focus on appetizer recipes.  Within the book, if you have access to one, you know already that black and white sketches are used throughout, adding style and flavor to the book's pages.  New sketches in the new addition could help promote the book.  The published book is the basis of the Blue Haven Foundation that manages the book's financial legacy; many, many copies were sold.   The Foundation each year awards the communities of Blue Lake and Deerhaven cash grants exclusively for beautification.

Pat Baylor is looking for people with freezers to sign up for homemade ice cream next month, and for finger foods -- you know, like sandwiches, appetizer stuff.

Donna announced that a golf cart parade, assembling at Driftwood Park, is being planned for the July fireworks weekend.  Carts will be decorated and prizes awarded.
